"Not a bad spot people are friendly cash as a friendly and knowledgeable the owner is usually on the premises they play nice music also. And have a variety of products including wigs I go there mostly to buy soap and grease but they do have lotions and many other things. I would recommend this door that you at least give it a try. The prices could come down a little but they are not as bad as some places."
- Roland llew"Not sure why it took me so long to write my review. I might have been in a coma or I'm just going to blame the menopause. Be aware they are certain items you buy that you cannot return for whatever reason and Lister don't pre warn his customer. So make sure you absolutely need the item before you cash it.. Also be careful of the Jamaican cashier. She will have you buying more than you need if you ask for her help. She doesnt care if you have money she just want YOU to spend money in my opinion. I know this store from I came to America over 20 years ago. Back then the owner appeared to be nicer. It would appear that success has made him a mean old nasty man. My opinion. So I went Into lister to purchase some things for my feet, the cashier was Jamaican and very helpful. But she kinda up sold me and I ended up buying an item that I didn't need. I was battling depression for over 9 years and needed help shopping. Purchasing the item it wasn't wrapped. It was on the shelf open for anyone ro pick it up and feel it. When I reached home I realised that one of the item could have been use for a dual purpose. I DIDNT USE THE ITEM. Being on disability with limited funds, I said ok, I'll just carry it back and either get a refund or buy something else. I was sadly mistaken. I was told how they don't take back beauty supply products as to the item I bought. I guess they are in fear I might have used it and carried it back. Mind you I bought it a little before closing time the day before and I came to the store as it open. It was then I realised that this same woman who was so helpful in getting me to spend my money, disassociated herself, when I came back, Into helping me get a refund or exchange. She straight up told me the manager not taken the product back because I might have used it or touched it. I said to the cashier but the item was already in the store for anyone to touch it and I still bought it. I said you can see it is clearly not used. Anyways I waited on the manager, this man didn't even spend 1 second talking to me. He was so rude and condescending, that he snapped at me and said, "I'm not taking it back". Walked off left me talking in the middle of a sentence. Mind you this man is fully aware I am a long time customer of his. I couldnt believe his condecending rude tone. I ended up giving the same cashier the item as a gift, which she took. It wasn't a concern now whether I used the item before or not. Another time this same Jamaican cashier helped me pick out a pair of nose ring that only she had access to. I wear readers and I distinctly told her to make sure the errings was the same size. When I reach home they were two different size. This I had already put into my nose. I figure the item was inexpensive and since it was the cashier fault because she used a key and open the case, she picked out the erring, she bagged it and gave it to me. She would just match anyone of the erring at no expense to me. To my surprise this cashier told me that it's my fault, she said I should have check the erring before I left the store. I could not believe her cold response. Just say only when I have an emergency and don't want to go on Jamaica Avenue, that I reluctantly buy something from lister. The staff is rude and unhelpful especially the Trinidadian one. Only the older man, not the owner, is very helpful and courteous. He is the only reason why I shop at lister, because if you are having a problem he will help you. I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE SHOPPING AT THIS STORE."

"(Let me start by saying I’m black so this isn’t about race) there are 2 black woman that work here that are very unpleasant. If you are an attractive woman expect to receive a lot of attitude from them. They look you up and down and just stare at you. Then when you’re at the register they’re rude and pretty much throw your bag on the counter. If you’re a pretty girl find a beauty supply store that has women that are pretty inside and out because it’s not here. The Asian owners are always very lovely I hope they find better people to hire"

"I love this place and they workers 💪"
- Tg Tg"Today was my first time visiting here and all I have to say is WOW! David was beyond welcoming, helpful and the store is very organized. He helped me select products that I need to install a lace front wig (1st timer here). I've been to A LOT of beauty stores on Jamaica Ave (they are a dime a dozen) and I have never been as impressed with a store and service as I am with this store. I highly recommend this store and they have gained a new customer for life. P.S. David let me try a lotion before I left and it smelled AMAZING. My only regret is not purchasing a bottle before I left. Needless to say, I'll be back to purchase the lotion very soon."

"I bought something at this store today for my friend for her birthday and I showed it to her and she tried it but it was the wrong one she was looking for so I went to make a return and they said that they cannot do the return when it was barely even use I would not recommend this store and I would always come there most of the times."
- Lavae Yonker"Zero customer service. They follow you around like you’re going to take something. Was in a rush so needed to purchase my hair product otherwise would’ve taken my money someplace else. They need to learn some customer service."

"This is one of the only hair stores ever where I can say that the employees are friendly and don't treat you like you're stealing. That means a lot to me. I love this place. I always come here first for affordable quality hair and just about everything beauty related. I reccomend this place highly. The owners are nice and so are the staff, especially the man who works in the wig section."
- Brianna Campbell"The manager is very rude, unprofessional and unhelpful. You can only try 3 wigs per visit but he did not disclose that information until the 3rd try."

"So happy to have found this hidden gem in the area especially with the variety of options to choose from the hair, edge control, braiding gels, and even got my hands on some hair treatments (SiliconMix) that I usually stack up when I visit the motherland - for the low! You’ll spend some time looking through this small shop to make sure you stocked up on all the essentials and the best part is not having to make a trip somewhere else. This is a one stop shop for my beauty supply needs !!"
- Raylenne Fernandez"I had a bleach disaster with my hair. I had to cut all of it off. It was burned so badly it was breaking. I had never had short hair before so I needed a wig to get me through the tough time while it was growing. Other than costume wigs, I had never had any experience and didn't know what I was doing, but I saw the reviews and so I decided to try this place. They were super helpful. Taught me what I needed to know. Got me all of the right products and even saved me some money by recommending something that cost less for some of the accessories. I went back a couple months later for a second one and they didn't have exactly what I was looking for so rather than try and sell me something that wasn't what I wanted they recommended some other stores to me. These people are great and wonderful and I really liked shopping here and I will definitely be back a third and fourth time."

"When ever I shop here the owner Jada is super nice. Any questions I may have she answers and even gives me suggestions I haven’t considered. Thank you Jada!"
- Daniel Conyers"The best beauty supply store and shopping experience I’ve had in a while because it’s black owned and the owner Jada is such a lovely person. Very kind and professional. There’s not a single product she doesn’t know. And kind tell you everything there is to know of the product and it’s uses. It’s a beautiful thing to go in a business owned by someone who looks like you and don’t hate you or suspect you of stealing because you’re black. Her prices are fair and in fact I wish I could get at her double. I’m so happy and glad she’s in a black neighborhood. I wish there was more of her and more of our own supporting our own. If people only knew how shady certain people are who run the black beauty industry and are making sure black people do not own or profit from the black beauty industry simply because of their skin color then more black people would support."

"This is my go-to spot for eyeliner, hair color, barrettes, and other goodies. It is small but has a decent selection of hair products, wigs, and crochet/braiding hair. It's family owned and they are friendly."
- Traci E."Visited this store today for the first time. Both ladies were so sweet helping me find extensions that matched my hair. I will definitely shop here again 😀"
